Sebring:
Walter “Shorty” W. Swank, age 84, of Sebring passed away at Aultman Alliance Community Hospital on October 25, 2022. He was born June 30, 1938, in Lake Milton, Ohio to the late Russell and Kathryn (Wortman) Swank.
Walter worked in various occupations over his lifetime. He retired from the brickyard in Alliance. He proudly served in the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of the AM Vets Post 45 in Salem. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #316 Salem.
In addition to his parents Walter was preceded in death by his wife; Eileen, 2 grandchildren; Hayden and Joey, a sister; Crystal Budahazy, three brothers; Donald, Russell, and Charles Swank.
He is survived by two daughters; Barbara, Tammy Hunt both of Florida, four sons; Walter W. Swank Jr. of Iowa, Dale (Mickey) Fletcher, William (Mary) Carlisle, Michael Carlisle, three sisters; Ruth Richards of Virginia, Eleanor Carter, and Oralee Baker both of Sebring, special granddaughter; Sophia Carlisle and eleven other grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, twenty-nine nieces and nephews and special friend; Barbara Ormiston.
A time of visitation will take place Saturday October 29, 2022, from 2-4pm at Dean’s Funeral Home 256 W. Ohio Avenue Sebring. The Salem AM Vets honor guard will present military honors at 2pm. Friends and family may share their online condolences at www.deansfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean’s Funeral Home Sebring, Ohio.
