Thomas “Tom” L. Sandoe, age 73, passed away peacefully and pain-free after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Tom was born on April 6th, 1951, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to Clyde E. Sandoe Jr. And Dorothy Ellen Rose Sandoe.

Tom grew up in East Palestine Ohio. After high school, he joined the United States Navy. Tom served as an E4, Petty Officer Third Class, jet mechanic with Attack Squadron One Five Three aboard the U.S.S. Oriskany, “The Mighty O”, during Vietnam. Tom was awarded the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal for his service.

After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Tom met the love of his life, Marie Evelyn McDade of Negley. Tom and Marie settled in Salem, building a life and raising a family. Tom became a very accomplished machinist spending the majority of his post service career working at Lincoln Machine in Salem. Tom prided himself in his work and had many of his pistons selected for display at trade shows.

In his spare time and during his retirement, Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, playing pool, gardening and tinkering in his garage. His family has many fond memories of early morning fishing trips, target practicing with his muzzleloader and rifles, bowling with him at The Ranch formerly in Columbiana, playing shuffleboard at the Moose and cheering him on in his bowling and pool leagues. Tom never hesitated to help family and friends by working on cars and fixing things.

Tom was a member of the Moose Lodge 467 in East Palestine and the VFW Post 4111 in Lisbon. His ornery sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Aside from his parents, Tom is preceded in death by brother- in- laws James Smith, John McDade, and Richard “Dick” Wittway, a sister-in-law Jenny Wittway and the love of his life, Marie, who he sadly lost in 2019. We are at peace knowing they are all up in heaven playing euchre together as they often did in their younger years.

Tom is survived by his daughter Amy Reinhart of Beloit, a granddaughter Alyssa (Jordan) Reinhart, great-grandchildren Spencer and Willow of Salem, a grandson Jordan Wolford of Beloit, a grandson Morgan Tennis of Hartville, his son Kirk (Pam) Sandoe, granddaughter Hailey Sandoe grandson Zakery Sandoe, grandson Justin Sandoe all of Lisbon, all of whom he loved very much. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Smith and brother Mark Sandoe of Raleigh, North Carolina, brothers Matthew and Clyde Sandoe, whose whereabouts are unknown, sister-in-laws Roberta Lintz and Judy (Steve) Labor as well as many nieces and nephews. Tom also leaves behind his companion, Dora Sandoe, who filled his final years with happiness.

The family would like to thank the staff at Masternick Memorial in New Middletown for the excellent care they provided to Tom in his final months as well as Southern Care Hospice for their care and compassion. A special thank you goes to his primary carers, Mindy, Tricia and pastor Ralph Barney. Pastor Ralph absolved Tom of all sins in his final days so he can be free in Jesus to be with his Marie once again in Heaven.

Funeral Service will take place at Dean's Funeral Home Thursday February 13th at 12pm. Services with full military honors will be take at 2pm before he is laid to rest at Cresthaven Memorial Gardens in Rogers. An after meal will follow at Almost Home Event Center in Sebring.

Any memorial contributions in Tom's name can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. Alzheimer's and Dementia are vicious, cruel diseases that hopefully, someday, we can find a cure.
