ALLIANCE - Ronald E. Doyle “Big R” went home to be with his Lord and Savior and love of his life, Retha, on June 28th, 2024 after a courageous battle of cancer. He was surrounded by his loved ones at Liza’s Place; Wheeling, WV. He was born on March 21st, 1942 in Akron, Ohio, the son of Harry Doyle and Alberta (Glover) Allenby.

Ron attended Moundsville High School. In 1966 he relocated to Alliance, Ohio where he worked at the American Steel Foundries for two years and then retired from The Chrysler Corporation after 30 years of service and provided numerous family members with his perks that enabled them to purchase a new vehicle. 

Ron spent most of his summers with his beloved wife of 59 years vacationing in Britt, Ontario or sitting on the banks of the Ohio River. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, and everything outdoors. Most of all, he always had fun schooling his family in a game of washers. He was an avid Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Guardians fan.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was proceeded in death by his Grandparents Harry and Rosa Glover, Siblings Herman Ray “Mickey” Doyle and Francis “Jeanie” Fultz.

Daddy is survived by his three wonderful daughters Rhonda (Bernie) Glenn, Wheeling, WV; Robin (Rick) Blake, Alliance, OH; and Rose (David) Mason, Shippensburg, PA and siblings Joan Story, Akron, OH; Janet Lloyd, Durham, NC.

Pappy Ron was blessed with 13 Grandchildren and was the “Best Pap” ever.

Steven Michael (Bonnie) Conaway, Erin Paige (James Jr.) West, Kaitlyn Renee (John) Beckett, Jaclyn Marie Adams, Lauren Nicole (Derek) Bradley, Tyler Paul-Ronald (Clarissa) Thompson, Craig (Jessica) Glenn, Natalie Walsh, Kyle (Brittany) Blake, Kody Blake, Justin Mason, Zachary Mason and Jesse Mason.

Because he was the “Best Pap”, they blessed him with 30 Great Grandchildren. James III, Elaina, Witten, Kiya, Juliana, Remington, Roman, Carter, Emmett, Jaxson, Hunter, Aubrey Rose, Zade, Lucas, Layla, Tommy, Elsa, Grayson, Lucy, Odin, Liam, Aiden, Nigel, Cody, Natasha, Carli, Makayla, Connor, Jozlynn and Jaxsen Allen.

Visitation at Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville, WV will begin at 11:00 am with a 12:00 pm service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Devona Cordell of the Shippensburg Church of Christ Nazarene Shippensburg, PA. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the service at Oglebay Park, Wheeling, WV Speidel cabin #13.

In addition to his three daughters, a special thank you to the angels that assisted in his final journey, Liza’s Place, Aultman Alliance Hospice and Difference is Family Services.
