Mary Lura (Croft) Parsons
Mary Lura Parsons of Copelands Oaks in Sebring, OH passed away on July 12, 2023. Mary Lou was born in Wellsville, Ohio on March 3, 1931 to Lura (Thornbury) Croft and Thomas Edmend "Ed" Croft. She graduated from Wellsville High School in 1949 and attended Geneva College for two years. She was married August 5, 1950, to James L. Parsons of Hammondsville and lived there until 2016, when she moved to Copeland Oaks.
Mrs. Parsons is survived by 5 nieces and nephews; also a great and great, great ones.
She was a member of the Hammondsville United Methodist Church, and the Ohio Order of Eastern Stars (Toronto Chapter), and the Telephone Pioneers; she and her husband were charter members of the Wellsville Boat Club and Pier Pilots Association, both now extinct.
She was employed as a service representative for twenty-six years by the Ohio Bell Telephone Company, twenty-four of which were in East Liverpool business office; the last two in Youngstown, where she retired from in 1982.
Mary Lou and her husband Jim both held pilots licenses and for 20 years travelled extensively in their planes. When her husband retired, they traded the wings for RV wheels and visited 49 states (excluding Hawaii) and coast to coast in Canada.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edmend R Croft of Ocala, FL and a sister, Susan A Harding of East Liverpool, OH.
A memorial service will be taking place Friday, August 4, 2023, at 1pm. at the Chapel located in Copeland Oaks. Friends and family may share their online condolences at www.deansfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean's Funeral Home in Sebring, Ohio.
