Katherine V Whitacre

Katherine V. (Christy) Whitacre (Kathy), 74 of Salem passed away peacefully on Sunday July 7, 2024 after a short illness.

Kathy was born in Alliance, on August 21, 1949. She was the daughter of the late William and Betty (Woods) Christy. She graduated from West Branch High School in 1968 and worked as a hairdresser and homemaker. Kathy enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and pets. 

Kathy is survived by her daughters; Jennifer L. DeRuyter (Monty) of Lisbon, Angela S. Mason (Damond Switzer), of Myrtle Beach, SC and her son William C. Whitacre III, of Myrtle Beach, SC.

6 grandchildren: Jordan Mason, Kelsey Anderson (Johnnie), Katy Beaty (Zach), Chase Whitacre (Skylar), Kaley Anderson (Thomas) and Jacob Mason. 2 great grandchildren: Beau Beaty and Sebastian Whitacre. Kathy also leaves behind her brother, Mike Christy (Peggy) of Sebring, and 2 sisters, Pam Grim and Karen Christy, both of Sebring. Besides her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her granddaughter Gracie Whitacre,of Myrtle Beach SC, her brothers Donnell Christy, Jim Christy and Frank Christy, all of Sebring. 

A memorial service to celebrate Kathy’s life will be held at Dean’s Funeral Home located at 256 W. Ohio Ave.Sebring, Ohio 44672 on Friday July 12, 2024, from 6pm-8pm. 

Memorial contributions can be made to Crossroads Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice in honor of Kathy.
