Beloit:
John R. Gieker passed away at home with his loving wife by his side on July 3, 2022, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born November 28, 1952, in Quincy, Illinois to Roger and Mary Davis Gieker. He married JoAnn Schmidt on December 22, 1972, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mr. Gieker graduated from Central High School in Camp Point, Illinois and United Electronics School in Louisville, Kentucky. He worked most of his career in foundries, including American Standard, Eljer, and finally retiring from Elyria Foundry.
In his free time, John enjoyed gardening, fishing, coin hunting/collecting, woodworking, and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife JoAnn Gieker, son John Gieker, Jr., Proctorville, OH, daughter Jennifer (Kris) Smith, Beloit, OH, two granddaughters: Jenna and Gabrielle Smith, grandson Colin Gieker, sister Gloria (Ron) Lantz, and many other loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Dr. Frank Adrian, grandparents, sister Eleanor, and brother David.
John will be cremated, and a private family service will be held at a later date. Dean's Funeral Home in Sebring, Ohio is handling the arrangements.
