Jean Bowman

Jean Joyce White, Young, Bowman, 84, of Alliance, Ohio, passed away on Friday March 31, 2017 at hospice care in Alliance, Ohio.

Born on February 16, 1933 in Salem, Ohio, to Kenneth and Helen (Stryffeler) White, she lived in Alliance for most of her life.

In the 50's Jean was employed at Francis Jeweler's in downtown Alliance as a sales clerk, then as a hostess at Country Manor/Diner/Kitchen Restaurants in Alliance, Ohio for 27 years then as a hostess at Bob Evans Restaurant in Alliance, Ohio until she turned 80. During her working career she met and became friends with a lot of Alliance's residents.

Left to cherish her memory are two children son Barry Young (husband Kimball Roots) of Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter Johnna (Elgin) Morris of Alliance, Ohio, grandson Dion (Carrie) Johnson of Alliance, Ohio daughter A'Lyssa Morris of Alliance, Ohio, grandson PFC Johnathan Morris USMC of Alliance, Ohio. There are also six great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Stepchildren Terry Bowman of Murphysboro, Illinois, James C. Bowman, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Amy Smith (deceased), Polly McDuffie (deceased) James M. Bowman, of Santa Maria, California, Russell Bowman of Atwater, Ohio, Margaret Cosentino (deceased) Jennifer Stackpole of Atwater, Ohio. Longtime close friends Kathy (Frank) Edwards of Poland, Ohio.

She loved gardening, bingo, yard sailing, and collecting ceramic planter doll heads and in her younger days she also enjoyed bowling in a league. She designed and made Barbie doll outfits to sell at the Frosty Boutique. While employed at Country Manor Restaurant she had collected signatures from famous people who she met such as Alex Haley,(author of Roots) an Mike Farrell (from M*A*S*H) She was a great caregiver to many dogs over the years and was never without one.

Preceding her in death were parents, Kenneth White and Helen Cummings. Brother Jack C. White, first husband John Young of 19 years and second husband James Bowman of 8 years
