Gloria Jean Greene was born on May 17, 1943, in the quaint town of Steubenville, Ohio. With a loving spirit and a heart brimming with kindness, Gloria touched the lives of countless individuals. She embraced her roles as a choir director, Sunday School teacher, and diligent caregiver with boundless compassion, leaving an indelible mark on her community.
Gloria's journey through life was rich with faith, which was the cornerstone of her existence. She found joy in singing and often filled her home with the enchanting sounds of gospel music. The warmth of her family meant everything to her, and she cherished the moments spent playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gloria was also known for her tender companionship with her beloved dog, Grace, which brought her smiles and laughter.
Her passions extended beyond her home, as Gloria enjoyed relaxing in the pool, taking golf cart rides, and placing delightful holiday decorations that illuminated her loved ones’ hearts with joy. The pages of the Bible held a special place in her daily routine, guiding her through life and inspiring her actions toward others. It was this devotion that reflected her personality—loving, compassionate, and endlessly kind to everyone she met.
On February 4, 2025, Gloria departed from this earthly realm peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and enveloped in the soothing sounds of gospel music. Her memory will forever shine bright in the hearts of those who loved her.
Gloria is survived by her cherished children, Louise (Mike) Hoover and Lorie (Steve) Greene, who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. She leaves behind her dear siblings, Virginia (Gary) Hoover, Frank (Patty) House, and Larry Rennie. Her grandchildren, John Hoover, Robert Mcabee, Amanda (Kevin) Mcabee, Jason (Lauren) Hoover, Chelsea (Craig) Heilman, and Tiffany Wakefield, along with her great-grandchildren, Justin, Skyler, Braylon, Maddie, Natalie, Valerie, and Deklan, will remember her unwavering support and love that shaped their lives.
Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Gerald Greene, and her brother, Ernie House. As we reflect on the splendid life of Gloria Jean Greene, we celebrate a woman whose impact can never be measured by time, but rather by the love she shared with those fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will live on in every song sung, every prayer offered, and every moment enjoyed amongst her family and friends. A Celebration of life will take place at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean's Funeral Home.
