Gerald Foster

Gerald Herbert Foster October 17th, 1930 - March 27th, 2016

On March 27th , 2016, Gerald went to the right hand of god surrounded by his family.

Gerald was born to Ezra Herbert Foster and Helen Gertrude (Beckett) Foster along with John, Kenneth, Dorthy and Louise. Growing up in Alliance, Ohio, Gerald attended Alliance High School playing trombone in the marching band. Through the years, Gerald also learned to play the ukulele and guitar. He passed his love of music to his sons giving him time to play various venues over the years with his boys.

After high school, Gerald joined the U S Navy serving in the Shore patrol. When he re enlisted, he decided to try the U S Air Force also serving in the military police rising to the rank of Buck Sergeant. Gerald is also a Korean War Veteran. While serving in the Air Force, he met his wife to be, Donna Mae Malone. When he left the Air Force, Gerald joined the Albany, California police department.

Due to a family illness, Gerald returned to Alliance, joining the Alliance Police Department for a brief stint. During this time Gerald and Donna bore and raised five sons, Walter, Wallace, William, Gregory and Richard. They in turn have 10 grandchildren and their children have had 8 great grandchildren.

Gerald loved to fish and would take every opportunity to drop a line to see what was in there. We would travel to Canada every year with my grand parents to fish the Trent river in Campbellford, Ontario. He and our mom also enjoyed watching the Indians, the Browns and the Cavaliers. A faithful fan to the end.

Dad will be missed for both his talent and his wit. He had a great sense of humor and a musical talent that we all took for granted.

Dad will be sorely missed.
