Edna M. Duke, a cherished matriarch and a source of unwavering love and kindness, left this world on April 2, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on May 12, 1940, her life was a tapestry woven with devotion to her family, an indomitable spirit, and a radiant personality that inspired all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Edna's journey through life was not marked by grand accolades but rather by the quiet strength and grace with which she approached her career as a housekeeper. Her dedication to this role was a reflection of her caring nature and her commitment to nurturing the spaces and people around her. Edna found joy in the simple pleasures of life; she delighted in her scratch-off tickets, which often brought a smile to her face and laughter to those around her.

To her family, Edna was everything. Described as the ultimate beautiful, loving, caring, and kind person, she epitomized the essence of familial devotion. Her strength, both internal and external, shone through in the way she embraced her children and grandchildren, with their happiness being her world. Edna leaves behind a loving brood, including her devoted daughters: Margaret Yoho, Bonnie (Dale) Rogers, Helen (Steven) Shell, and Carolyn (Dan) Stanley; her sons, Charles Smith, Robert Smith, and Richard Smith; and several stepchildren, all of whom have been profoundly shaped by her warmth.

She is also survived by her beloved sister, Joyce Shaver, and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of love and compassion.

The echoes of Edna’s laughter and her loving spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Carl Duke, her mother, Margaret Coe Hill, her father, John Hill, her beloved daughter, Christine Taylor, and her dear sister, Dorothy Bell, as well as her brother-in-law, Eugene Shaver, and her darling fur baby, Coco. Also among her departed is her ex-husband, Charles Smith.
