Amelia May Mather, born on December 11, 1920, in Alliance, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, at her home,  Auburn Skilled Nursing in Damascus, Ohio. She lived a remarkable life filled with service, compassion, and dedication to her family and her profession.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Amelia devoted over three decades to the nursing field, spending 29 years at Copeland Oaks and 6 years at Valley Rd Nursing Home, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of countless individuals. She retired at the age of 75 but continued her passion by providing private duty nursing. Her proudest accomplishment was the care she provided to others, showcasing her commitment to improving the lives of those around her.

Amelia was a graduate of Minerva High School and pursued her nursing education at Hannah Mullins School of Practical Nursing in Salem. Her professional journey was matched by her vibrant interests; she enjoyed crocheting, baking, ceramics, square dancing, and traveling. Amelia's spiritual home was the Damascus Friends Church, where she found fellowship and community.

Active in her community, she was a member of the Mother Match on Polio in 1954 and served with distinction in the Damascus Volunteer Department Ladies Auxiliary during the 1960s. These contributions reflect her deep-rooted values of service and engagement in the betterment of her surroundings.

Amelia was the loving mother of four sons: Robert (Barbara) Mather of Salem, Richard (Lynn) Mather of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Thomas (Carmel) Mather of Salem. She also cherished her two daughters, Bonnie (John) Woodman of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Terri (Leeland) McDonald of Beloit. Her legacy extends through her legacy of six children, eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward the love and lessons she imparted throughout her life.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Earl Mather; whom she married January 11, 1939, and her oldest son, Jack. Their memories, alongside her numerous family and friends, will remain a testament to a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Auburn Skilled Nursing 451 Valley Rd.
